Features of Balcony Guest House, New Orleans.
A shared parlor awaits your arrival at the top of the stairs. From here, French doors open onto an 80-foot balcony overlooking the corner of St. Roch and Royal streets. Spend some time here, enjoying the breeze from the nearby Mississippi River and watching the street scene below.
Schiro's Community Café*
New Orlean's Schiro's Community Café has been a part of the Marigny fabric since the turn of the century. From its beginnings over 100 years ago, as a corner grocery store with the owners living above, it has evolved into something for everyone in the neighborhood. The grocery now includes a full service restaurant and bar that features New Orleans Neighborhood fare such as creole red beans and rice, shrimp po-boys, and gumbo, along with satisfying daily specials such as oyster caesar salad and baked chicken. Here you can dine in the decor of a Moroccan Bazaar with art and sculpture based on Mardi Gras and other local themes and characters.
Schiro's is always humming with locals and visitors alike. In addition to cocktails, it is a great place to overhear local gossip or find out the hot thing to do for the night.
If you really want the local feel, you can try your luck at video poker or do your laundry in the rear. As we said, "Only in New Orleans."
